Full Name: Sopheia
Alias/Other Names: Sophie
Powers: Idea theft.
Hero Class: N/A
Physical Attributes: Sopheia is an African-American toddler with deep, black hair kept long and tied back by her caretakers, and light blue eyes.
Power Analysis: Sopheia posesses the ability to passively steal ideas from living entities around her. These ideas can be retained by her as if they were all her own, possibly leaving the victim with a notable gap in their knowledge if the idea that has been taken is significant enough.
To date, notable confirmed ideas that Sopheia has stolen include:
- The entire vocabulary of a single English major.
- An individual’s knowledge of full-stack web development/design.
- A working knowledge of nuclear physics.
- The passwords to the US President’s social media accounts*.
- The understanding of electrical engineering from an engineering graduate.
- Master-level Krav Maga skills.
- An understanding of the different techniques used to paint RPG miniatures.
- Additional confirmed knowledge can be found here.
Research is being conducted on whether or not Sopheia is able to trigger these theft events herself, or if they are random. Research is also being conducted to see if she can reverse or redistribute the effects of the theft. However, due to her age, progress is at a standstill.
While the threat of her taking a memory is concerning, the rate at which this theft happens on a monthly basis combined with the chances of an important memory being the target over all others means that the actual danger she poses is slim.
Notable Weaknesses: Sopheia’s primary limiting factor for her power is the need to be nearby the target. To-date, all known instances of her power have occurred while she has direct line-of-sight to the target, who is also within approximately ten feet of her.
Additionally, assuming that her power isn’t able to be triggered at-will, she is at the mercy of its random activation and target. This severely limits its usefulness in a high-stress scenario such as combat.
Origin: Sopheia was recovered in the ruined remains of a house fire in [ERR_Location_Not_Found], Massachusetts. The fire in question was deemed a PII** and Razkel “Exodus” Sparks was lent to the city at a reduced price point to investigate the incident. As a result of his search, he discovered Madam Hippocampus, who had [ERR_Data_Not_Found]. After the fight, Sparks retrieved the then-infant Sopheia and brought her into H4H custody, where she has been raised since.
Psychological Analysis: While the Heroes For Hire program provides room and board for the kid, she suffers from some severe developmental setbacks as a result of having no proper parental figure. While the ultimate goal is to have her field-ready by the time she’s 16, I’m afraid of what she could become should this type of neglect continue. Therefore, I propose that we have Roarke “Hollowpoint” Irving act as a father-figure/mentor for the child once she begins formal training for the program.
Notes: Sopheia is the inspiration and first member of Project Cocoon.
Interview with Sopheia “Redact”
Interviewer: Thalia Maverik, Childhood Development Specialist
Maverik: “Hi, Sopheia. How are you?”
[Sopheia looks at Maverik and picks her nose.]
M: “Do you feel like– Don’t pick your nose, sweetie. Do you feel like going for a walk today?”
[Sopheia turns away and begins trying to fit the head of a doll into the window of a large toy bus.]
M: “Hon? Did you hear me?”
[Sopheia continues ignoring Maverik. She begins humming something vaguely resembling Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.]
M: “Okay, Sopheia, ignoring people is rude. Please look at me.”
[Sopheia complies].
M: “Do you know Roarke?”
Sopheia: “Yeah.”
M: “We’ve decided that we want the two of you to go to the park together. Does that sound like fun?”
S: “Yeah.”
M: “So can you put your shoes on, please? He’s waiting.”
[Sopheia complies.]
